Uplinq vs. APM Help

The real choice is between a vertical specialist built for property management trust accounting and a general small business bookkeeping and tax service.

APM Help operates as a remote service and states it pairs clients with an account manager close to their timezone, rather than working from a local office in your metro.

A local firm and a remote engine are different models, not better and worse ones. This page lays out where they differ so you can decide on the dimensions that matter to your business.

THE HONEST SUMMARY

Before the table, the fair version.

A comparison you can't trust isn't worth reading.
WHO THEY ARE

APM Help describes itself as a remote bookkeeping and accounting service built specifically for property management companies, handling trust accounting, bank reconciliations, corporate bookkeeping and 1099 filing for clients on AppFolio, Buildium, Propertyware, Rentvine and QuickBooks.

WHERE THEY'RE A GOOD FIT

If you run a property management company holding client funds in trust on AppFolio, Buildium, Propertyware, Rentvine or QuickBooks, APM Help is built for that job. They state trust accounting is their flagship service, maintained through daily and three-way reconciliation, and each platform is handled by a team with staff from that platform. They also commit to completing month-end bank reconciliations within 7 business days of receiving statements. A property manager whose real exposure is a state trust account audit is buying compliance work a generalist bookkeeper does not perform.

WHERE THE FIT BREAKS

Their published service list covers trust accounting, bank reconciliations, corporate bookkeeping and 1099 filing; business income tax return filing is not among the services listed on their site. In their Daily Bank Reconciliations product specifically, their own agreement states the client's team does all bookkeeping and data entry, with APM Help only reconciling and entering temporary placeholders.

SIDE BY SIDE

The same eight dimensions we hold every comparison to.

Fixed rows. No cherry-picking.
APM Help
Uplinq
Service model
Remote bookkeeping and accounting service for property managers, built around platform-specialist teams (AppFolio, Buildium, Propertyware, Rentvine, QuickBooks) and a dedicated account manager per client, per their own site.
AI engine with U.S.-based accountant oversight. Technology does the volume, professionals own the judgment.
In-person availability
Not published. Their site describes a remote service model with communication via Asana and screenshare meetings scheduled by an account manager; no in-person meeting option is stated.
Remote by design. A named team reachable by email, phone, or video, without a commute on either side.
Tax filing
1099 preparation and filing is offered as a named service. Business income tax return preparation is not listed among their published services, which they state as trust accounting, bank reconciliations, corporate bookkeeping and 1099 filing.
Available on every plan. Business and personal filings handled by the team that already keeps your books.
Pricing structure
Pricing not published. They state initial cost depends on the condition of the books, ongoing pricing is calculated by number of units managed, and they aim not to charge by the hour, but no rates or tiers are published.
Published pricing from $300/mo, scoped to your business. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.
Onboarding and migration
They offer a free 30-minute consultation and a self-serve compliance risk check, followed by financial diagnostics and catch-up work to bring books to a reconciled baseline, billed on a project basis.
A dedicated onboarding specialist imports your history, rebuilds your chart of accounts, and runs a verified first close.
Capacity at tax season
Category typical. They publish a 7-business-day month-end bank reconciliation guarantee and a 1-business-day email response commitment under their Daily Bank Reconciliations agreement, but no seasonal filing-capacity statement.
Capacity is a function of the engine, not of how many hours one person has in March.
Scalability path
Not published as a portfolio ceiling. The only stated cap is that Three Way Reconciliation reports are provided for up to 5 bank accounts per client under their Daily Bank Reconciliations agreement.
One provider from lean cash-basis books to multi-entity consolidation. You never outgrow the system.
Support model
Each client gets a dedicated account manager as primary point of contact, communicating via Asana with screenshare meetings as needed. Stated business hours vary by page between 8am-5pm and 8am-6pm Monday through Friday, weekends closed.
A named team you can reach directly, with responses within one business day.

WHERE THE GAP IS STRUCTURAL

Two differences that aren't about effort.

Most rows in a table are details. These two are the decision.
01

Contract term and renewal window

APM Help's Master Services Agreement runs for an initial term of twelve months from first use of the services, then automatically renews for successive twelve-month terms unless either party gives written notice of nonrenewal at least thirty days before the end of the current term. Termination for breach requires a thirty-day cure period after notice.

This puts the decision point on a calendar the buyer has to track from day one, rather than at the moment they decide to make a change. A buyer evaluating this model should know the nonrenewal window before signing, not when they want out.

02

Where the work stops and the client's team starts

APM Help sells several distinct product lines with different divisions of labor. Under their published Daily Bank Reconciliations agreement, the client's own team is responsible for all bookkeeping and data entry; APM Help performs the reconciliation and enters only temporary placeholder journal entries for anything still missing by the 10th of the following month, removing them once the client's team enters the correct transactions.

By contrast, their separate Trust Bookkeeping service does include data entry: tenant receipts, bank deposits, invoices, work orders and signed leases.

ALREADY ON APM HELP?

Switching costs less than staying mismatched.

Your history comes with you. The work of moving it is ours.
01
Export and connect. Week one. You share your existing statements and reports, connect your bank and card accounts, and meet your onboarding specialist. That is the extent of your job.
02
We rebuild and verify. Weeks two to three. We bring your history onto the Uplinq system, rebuild the chart of accounts around how your business actually runs, and reconcile it against your bank records.
03
First verified close. Month one. Your first month closes on Uplinq with accountant review, and you compare it against what you were getting before. Most businesses are fully switched within one cycle.
MOVING FROM APM HELP

The MSA sets a twelve-month initial term with automatic twelve-month renewals and requires written nonrenewal notice at least thirty days before the current term ends. No data export or offboarding clause was found published beyond the term and termination provisions.

QUESTIONS

What people ask when comparing.

01 Does APM Help publish pricing, and how is it calculated? +

APM Help does not publish rates on its site. They state that initial cost is determined by the condition of the books and how much work is needed to organize the records, and that ongoing pricing is calculated based on the number of units managed, with a stated aim to avoid hourly billing so pricing adapts as the business changes size. Catch-up or cleanup work is quoted on a project basis, and consulting is billed at separate consulting rates that are not published. They offer a free 30-minute consultation with no obligation as an entry point to get a quote.

02 Does Uplinq include tax filing? +

Yes. Business and personal tax filings are available on every Uplinq plan, and tax strategy packages are available for businesses that want proactive planning. Because the same system holds your books and prepares your filings, year end is a handoff, not a project.

03 Does APM Help file business tax returns? +

APM Help's published service list is trust accounting, bank reconciliations, corporate bookkeeping and 1099 filing. They offer a dedicated 1099 preparation and filing service, guiding clients from setup through filing. On the corporate bookkeeping side they state they can produce management reporting for cash flow and end-of-year tax reporting. Business income tax return preparation or filing is not listed among the services described on their site.

04 Who actually does the work at Uplinq, software or people? +

Both, deliberately. Uplinq's AI engine categorizes, reconciles, and monitors your transactions continuously. U.S.-based professional accountants review what the system produces and own every judgment call. You get the speed of technology with a real team accountable for the result.

05 What contract commitment does APM Help require? +

Per their published Master Services Agreement, the relationship begins on first use of the services and runs for an initial term of twelve months. It then automatically renews for successive twelve-month terms unless either party gives written notice of nonrenewal at least thirty days before the end of the current term. Either party can terminate for breach if the breaching party fails to cure the issue within thirty days of notice.

06 What if my books are months behind? +

That's common, and it's a solved problem. Uplinq's Catch Up service rebuilds past months or years of books as part of onboarding, scoped to how far behind you are and the state of your records. You start clean, not from wherever your last provider left off.

07 Do I have to sign a long contract? +

No. Uplinq offers month-to-month agreements as well as annual plans, which carry a discount. If you prepay annually and choose not to renew, you simply give notice 30 days before the term ends.

THE ACTUAL DECISION

You're not choosing a bookkeeping vendor. You're choosing what your numbers are for.

The question is less which service is better and more which scope you need: property management trust accounting on a named platform, or ongoing bookkeeping and tax filing for a general small business.

Feature checklists don't run a business. Clean, current, legible financials do. If that's the outcome you're buying, see what it looks like on your own books.
