Help Center/Connecting Your Accounts/Reconnect a broken bank

Reconnect a broken bank

What to do when an account stops syncing, why Uplinq may ask for statements, and when to contact your team.

The short version

If a bank or card connection breaks, open Data Hub, look for the account that needs attention, and follow the action shown in Uplinq. If it will not reconnect, upload the requested statement or contact your Uplinq team.

Why connections break

Bank connections can stop syncing for normal reasons:

  • you changed your online banking password;
  • the bank asked for multi-factor authentication again;
  • a card was replaced or compromised;
  • the bank changed its security settings;
  • Plaid needs you to re-authorize access;
  • the account was closed, renamed, or moved under a different login.

A broken connection does not mean Uplinq lost your data. It means new activity may not be flowing in until the connection is refreshed or replaced with statements.

Where to check

Go to Data Hub and look for the account, connection, or task that needs attention. Depending on your account, you may see it under Banking & Credit Cards, Connections, File Requests, or Home.

If Uplinq has already created a task, start there. That keeps your response connected to the specific account and period.

What to try first

  1. Open the account or connection that needs attention.
  2. Open the action shown in Uplinq. It may say reconnect, fix, update, or use another similar prompt.
  3. Complete the Plaid window with your online banking login.
  4. Approve any bank security prompt.
  5. Return to Uplinq and check whether the account still shows as needing action.

If the bank asks you to choose accounts, select only the business accounts Uplinq should use for your books.

If reconnecting does not work

Some banks are less reliable through Plaid. If reconnecting fails or keeps breaking, Uplinq may ask for official statements instead.

Statements are a normal fallback. They help Uplinq confirm the full activity for a period, even when the live feed is incomplete.

Tell Uplinq when something changed

Contact your Uplinq team if:

  • the bank issued a new card or account number;
  • you closed or replaced an account;
  • the account now belongs under a different business or entity;
  • you cannot complete the reconnect;
  • the same connection keeps breaking.

Include the bank name, account nickname or last few digits, and what changed.
