Connection statuses explained

What connection badges, action-needed states, reconnect prompts, and issue counts usually mean in Data Hub.

The short version

Connection statuses help show whether Uplinq can still receive the source data it needs. If a connection shows an action such as Link, Restart, Update, or Reconnect, open the task or prompt shown in Uplinq.

Follow the instructions there. If it still does not work, your Uplinq team may ask for statements or another source document.

Where statuses appear

Connection and account statuses can appear in a few places:

  • Home, when a task needs your attention;
  • Data Hub > Banking & Credit Cards, for account-level issues;
  • Data Hub > Connections, for bank or card connection work;
  • Data Hub > File Requests, if Uplinq needs statements as a fallback.

If your account uses QuickBooks Online or another setup, you may see a different set of tabs. Use the task or request Uplinq gives you as the source of truth.

Common connection states

What you may seeWhat it usually meansWhat to do
LinkA connection may still need to be completed before it can sync.Open the prompt and finish the secure connection flow shown in Uplinq.
RestartA setup or approval step may have expired before it was completed.Restart the connection if Uplinq shows that action.
UpdateThe connection exists, but Uplinq may need a refresh or changed authorization.Use the update action shown in Uplinq.
ReconnectThe bank or card connection stopped authorizing new data.Reconnect through Plaid when prompted.
Badge or countOne or more accounts, requests, apps, or credentials need attention.Open the tab with the badge and start with the item Uplinq highlights.

These labels can vary by account and provider. The important part is the action attached to the status.

Why a connected account can still need documents

A connection can exist and still be missing something Uplinq needs.

That can happen when:

  • the bank feed is incomplete for a period;
  • a statement is needed to confirm balances;
  • a card was replaced and the old account stopped syncing;
  • a bank asked for authorization again;
  • the account belongs under a different company or entity.

When that happens, Uplinq may ask you to reconnect, update the connection, or upload an official statement.

If reconnecting does not work

Open the reconnect or update prompt shown in Uplinq from a desktop browser when possible. If it still fails, send your Uplinq team:

  • the bank or card name;
  • the company or entity it belongs to;
  • the action you tried;
  • the message you saw;
  • whether the account was closed, replaced, or moved.

Do not send online banking passwords, MFA codes, or security answers in a normal message.
