CPA and accountant access

How to think about giving a CPA, outside accountant, tax preparer, or advisor access to Uplinq.

The short version

If a CPA, tax preparer, outside accountant, or advisor needs information from Uplinq, contact your Uplinq team first. Tell us who they are, what they need, and which company or entities they support.

Access is different from sending a report

Your outside advisor may need one of several things:

  • access to Uplinq;
  • access to QuickBooks Online;
  • a financial report;
  • tax documents;
  • a file export;
  • bookkeeping context from your Uplinq team.

Those are not all the same request. Start by describing what the advisor needs to do.

What to include in the request

When asking about CPA or accountant access, include:

  • the person's name;
  • their email address;
  • their role, such as CPA, tax preparer, controller, or outside bookkeeper;
  • which company or entities they work with;
  • what they need to review or complete;
  • whether they should receive ongoing notifications or only a one-time document/report.

Do not send your own password or ask an advisor to use your login.

When access may not be the best answer

Sometimes the fastest path is to send a report or document instead of adding a new user. That may be better when the advisor only needs:

  • a Profit & Loss report;
  • a Balance Sheet;
  • bank statement support;
  • tax files;
  • a one-time answer about a transaction or category.

Your Uplinq team can help route the request.

Multi-entity accounts

If you have more than one company in Uplinq, be specific about which entity the advisor needs. Access for one company may not mean access to every company in your account.

If the request is about consolidated or portfolio-level information, say that clearly.
