Report periods and frequency

How to choose the report date range, compare weeks/months/quarters/years, and use week start.

The short version

The Report Period chooses the date range. Frequency chooses how that date range is grouped. If the report looks wrong, confirm both before assuming the numbers are wrong.

Report Period

Report Period controls the start and end dates for the report.

Use it when you want to:

  • review a month, quarter, year, or custom range;
  • look back at a catch-up period;
  • compare the same date range across multiple reports;
  • troubleshoot a report that looks empty.

If your books are still being caught up, the current year may not tell the full story. Use a broader period when you are reviewing older activity.

Frequency

Frequency controls how the selected period is grouped.

Depending on the report, you may be able to group by:

  • Weeks;
  • Months;
  • Quarters;
  • Years.

Changing the frequency does not mean Uplinq changed your books. It changes how the selected range is displayed.

Week Start

When frequency is set to Weeks, the report may show a Week Start control. Use it when you want weekly reporting to match how your business reviews weeks.

If you are comparing a downloaded report, a screenshot, or a team discussion, make sure everyone is using the same week start.

Downloading reports

Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet pages include a download icon. The downloaded report uses the period, frequency, and week-start controls you selected.

Before downloading, confirm:

  • the company or entity;
  • the report period;
  • the frequency;
  • the week start if you are using weekly reporting.

If two people see different numbers

Check whether both people are viewing the same:

  • company or entity;
  • report;
  • start and end dates;
  • frequency;
  • week start;
  • finalized or in-progress period.

If those match and the numbers still differ, send Uplinq the exact report, period, and line that looks different.
