Why reports can change
Why Financial Overview, Profit & Loss, and Balance Sheet numbers can update while books are in progress.
Reports can change while Uplinq is still collecting data, answering open questions, categorizing activity, and reviewing the period. Treat in-progress reports as useful directional views, not final books.
Why numbers update
Uplinq reports are built from connected account data, uploaded documents, customer answers, bookkeeping review, and report settings.
Numbers can update when:
- new bank, credit card, payroll, or processor activity arrives;
- missing statements or files are uploaded;
- a customer answer changes how a transaction should be handled;
- Uplinq reviews a transfer, loan payment, payroll item, or owner transaction;
- duplicate, reversed, or corrected transactions are cleaned up;
- a connected tool syncs new information;
- a report period, frequency, or company filter changes;
- a period is still in onboarding, catch-up, or month-end review.
This is normal while work is in progress.
What changes after a period is finalized
Finalized books are the version Uplinq has reviewed and is comfortable treating as complete for that period.
After that point, reports are generally more stable. A finalized period can still be adjusted if new information appears or a correction is needed.
It should not move around the same way an in-progress period can.
See How to know your books are finalized for the broader close explanation.
What to check before asking for help
Before sending a report question, check:
- Home for open tasks;
- My Projects for active requests;
- Data Hub for missing statements, files, accounts, or connections;
- Transactions > Questions for unanswered transaction questions;
- the report period and frequency.
If there is an open task tied to the period, answer or upload that item first. It may be the reason the report is not final.
How to report a change that looks wrong
Send Uplinq:
- the company or entity;
- the report name;
- the period and frequency;
- the line, card, or metric that changed;
- what it showed before, if you know;
- what you expected to see;
- whether any statements, files, or answers were recently added.
Avoid sending sensitive login credentials, full financial account details, or private tax IDs in comments, email, or text. Use the secure path Uplinq provides when sensitive information is requested.
